Last night, a bunch of friends and I went to the outdoor movie in Churchill Square (for those not from Etown, think concrete park in front of city hall). The weather was good for it, warm until the sun went down and no sign of rain. The movie, Tales of Despereaux, was kinda crap, but the whole experience was fun. It was neat to be sitting in the square in a camping chair, chatting and people watching. There were a lot of people there, lot's of kids and families, and far less 'local colour' that I'd expected. The cops and peace officers were out, as were the balloon animal clowns, cotton candy sellers, Fat Franks hotdog cart and even a stilt walker. The movie started 45mins late, because it was a bright night, but other than that, I'd say it was a good night, and I'd go again. They're running it twice more this summer, at the end of July and beginning of September, so be sure to check it out if you're local.
